Hungry Ghost Month
Did you notice last night the moon in the sky is so round and bright? No doubt, it is the chinese lunar 7th month and it is the hungry ghost month where the gate in hell was open to freed the hungry ghost who will roam the …. earth (???) for food.
Childrens and pregnant women are regarded as “unsuitable” and advise to stay away from this prayer. If you also notice, on the 14th day of the 7th month , there are sweets or sweet foods, joss sticks and candles place at the road side for prayer. This is also deem as unsuitable for consumption.
Some believe that those who commited suicide during this month will became a very fierce ghost!
Here is a few tips to you if you are staying in a hotel. Every single hotel, there shall be at least a permanent room which should be left vacant at all times. No matter how full the hotel are, they are not to sell that room(s) to any guest. It was said that special room was “reserved” for those “special visitors”. So, if you plan to stay in some hotel, always book in advance. Try to avoid walk in. If the receptionist told you there’s no more room available, do not insist one anymore or try to bribe them to give you a room. If you do that, most of the time the room you have will be that “special room”. Sometimes those “special visitors” might go to other rooms also. So here’s some tips on how to protect yourself:
- Before entering your room, always knock on the door first, even you know the room is vacant. This is to tell them that you are coming in.
- After you enter the room, if you felt very cold suddenly and have “chicken spore”, leave the room quietly immediately and go to reception to request to change room. Most of the time the receptionist will understand what’s happening.
- After you enter the room, immediately switch on all of the lights, and open the curtain to let the sun light in.
- Before you go to bed, arrange your shoes so that one of them is upside down. Some say this is representing yin & yang to protect you while you’re asleep.
- Always leave at least a lamp on while you’re sleeping, preferably the toilet’s lamp.
- If you’re staying alone and they have give you a twin bed, do not sleep with the other bed vacant, try to put your things like luggage on the other bed before you sleep.
Most important thing, pray before you sleep!!!

Have 2 spooky experience before. Once in primary school, me & afew friends were on our way to the toilet & we saw a shadowy image of a women with no legs .. like suspended in the air. We quickly ran to the toilet, finish oir business & rush back to our classroom. Too terrified to tell anyone. Minutes later, a girl was locked in the girls toilet & upon breaking open the door, she was unconscious on the floor with a dead black cat lying beside her. After this incident, there are afew cases of hysteria & always involve the same girl that fainted in the toilet.
2nd incident lagi spooky. I was conducting training in one of the motels and stayed the night for the next session next morning. Everybody else had gone home coz I am the trainer. My room’s TV reception was not good so I tried to look for another antenna to replace mine … then I noticed that there’s one room with the light & TV on … I checked it out. As I walked into the room .. there’s an eerie feeling & my `kai zai pe’ all comes out … but, hmmm, the TV reception is very clear. I wanted to remove the aerial … & guess what, the aerial is NOT connected to the TV … phew !! I calmly walk out of the room & `minta maaf’ for disturbing & slept the night through …. will never forget this experience.
Do you believe in ghost/supernatural phenomena , Queen??
The Queen says:Â NOT TILL I ENCOUNTER THOSE SPOOKY THINGS MYSELF!!!! and do you have to scared the Queen during this month? *sob, sob*Â

That’s an auto reply from MSN when the user is away from the PC. Seen it many times. Nothing spooky about it at all.
The Queen says: Neh… my kolig doesn’t have a auto reply. I’ve just checked her setting.

I travel frequently and have done 3 to 6. Actually, I’m on traveling right this moment and this is a good month to do no 4 🙂 I normally request for a King size bed if staying alone and before sleeping, I cover up the mirror of the makeup table with a towel (it usually faces the bed). I leave it to you to ponder but I am definitely a believer…

WOw.. this reminds me of a friend of mine that went to one of the temple to do coverage on the festival for his project, out of sudden his phone actually “spoke” and told him the time is 4.32pm… GOSHHH… there’s no function in that phone that can do that and he’s so sure that his phone talked… Geee…Hmm… He’s not alone summore. He’s with another friend while doing the coverage and the other friend also heard his phone “talked”.
