Crazy!
Saw this bakery shop in Penang while waiting for the traffic light to turn green:
“Where are you working?”
“Patchee Bakery.”
“Don’t la scold your boss patchee”.
“Hmm… ya hor, he so patchee no wonder he named his shop Patchee Bakery.”

I could still remember my first time buying a whole pineapple from the market. With little confidence in myself, I ask the lady to remove all the skin before bringing it home as I’ve never done it before. Back then I was newly wed 😳 . Somehow, one fine day, I tried experimenting it. Since then, I’ve enjoy doing the chore. It’s pretty easy actually.
This is my way of doing it:
There you go. Pretty easy isn’t it? It is like working on a piece of art!
I was quite surprised when I found out my late mil doesn’t know how to work on the ‘eyes’. She will cut the skin as in picture one, working all the way thru the eyes. Imagine how much you have wasted. End of it, there’s nothing left except a very petite pineapple.
Things are different with my mom. She’s an expert in the field and she never let me cut a pineapple in her house even tho I’ve assured her I’ve done it lots of time. She believe that the knife have to be very sharp and bla bla bla. Failing which, our tongue will itch when we eat them. Neh, I think that is just folklore.
Talking about itchy tongue, does anyone know the reason why sometimes our tongue itch after consuming pineapple?
One more story on the pineapple. My neighbour Sister caught me snapping all this photographs and she thought this is a very lame post on pineapple. *Blueh* So yutelme, lame or not ah?
Few months back, I read in some blogs that Yahoo! Photo is phasing out their photo sharing website. As usual, the word procrastinating is all over my dictionary. Finally, today I logged in to my Yahoo! Photo account to search for some nice pictures so that I can submit them in Asiayak.com photo contest.
Talking about the photo contest, anyone who is 18y/o and above is eligible to participate in the contest. All you have to do is register as a member of the forum and start submitting your photograph. You could win yourself a Air Asia air ticket to any destination of your choice. Should you choose not to accept that, you can opt for the cash prize of US$150; approximately RM517.00.
Where were we? Oh, my Yahoo! Photo. So I logged in today and this is what greeted me:
A screenshot of the notification. If you have any pictures in Yahoo! Photo, do check if you get the notification. If not, drop Yahoo! an e-mail. I’m sure they will help you with the house moving before everything was totally wipe out!
While they are in the mid of transfering my files to Flickr, I was temporarily denied access to my account. No pic as of now till everything is restored in Flickr.
Before I sign out, please take note that the deadline for the photo contest is 15 August, 2007, which means… TOMORROW! So, hurry and send in your entry right now. Don’t be like me. The word procrastinating is stamped on my forehead.

My first bitter gourd in the garden. Actual length is about 2 inches but macro shots make it look so big.
p/s: Which is your fav? Mine is the first pic.
This is my 3rd submission to Asiayak.com for their photo contest. Dang, I sound so kiasu now. At the beginning, I entered the photo contest for fun. But since I’ve already step foot in it, might as well fight all the way making sure I win!
The closing date is getting nearer that is on August 15, 2007. So, hurry if you want to join the photo contest. You could win yourself a Air Asia air ticket to any destination of your choice. Should you choose not to accept that, you can opt for the cash prize of US$150; approximately RM517.00.
To double up your chances of winning, blog about the contest in your blog. Not bad for just submitting photos and praying for it to win.
This is a nyonya dish. You can halal-fied it by excluding the porky.
Ingredients:
2 big and 20 small onions
6 cloves of garlic
(Put them in a electric blender to form a paste. Do not over blend them as it would caused the paste to produce lots of juices of the onions)
2 whole chicken thigh – cut into pieces
1 whole strip of belly pork – cut into 2cm slices
2 tablespoon bean paste
Chinese mushrooms
Potatoes
Gula Melaka to taste
Method:
Heat the oil to sauté the shallot and garlic paste until fragrant, stirring continuously. Add the bean paste and fry until the oil starts to separate.
Add the pork if using and fry for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and water, and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 40 minutes or till the pork tender before adding chicken and potatoes. Continue simmering for another 20 minutes until chicken and potatoes tender. Add more water if gravy becomes too thick. Season to taste with sugar and salt if required.
Normally, I will cook this dish in the morning and let the flavours infused into the meat and potatoes. Heat/Microwave them again for dinner.
For the first time in my blogging life, I was struck with Blogger’s block today. My definition of Blogger’s block – You want to blog but can’t think of anything (good) to blog.
But… but… in every fantasy (virtual) life, there is always a miracle like a marvel hero came and safe the day.
Is it a bird? NO!
Is it a plane? NO!
Is Captain Simple America. Yay!
Ok, I know that is not the tagline for Captain America but what the heck….
Anyway, let’s call him Captain America in short.
Firstly, he tagged me for “Naughty Things you do in School.” Halo-oh? Excuse me? Naughty? I was more than a mouse! I was so quiet the teacher thought I never exist! The only naughty things I did is skipping Mandarin classes. Other than that? Neh….
Secondly, he awarded me this:
Schmooze – talk idly or casually and in a friendly way
How not to sayang him leh?
Tips: If you have blogger’s block, go look for some meme and tag yourself. hehe…
“I thought you would like to know about this urgent campaign to free the remaining South Korean aid workers who have been taken hostage by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. The Taliban have already executed 2 hostages and are threatening to execute the rest this week, an action that could trigger a mass evacuation of life-giving humanitarian aid from all of Afghanistan.
The situation is desperate, but there is hope. The Taliban are all from the ‘Pashtun’ ethnic group, and observe a strict code called Pashtunwali. This code demands, above all else: “hospitality to all, especially guests and strangers”. There are rumours of infighting among the Taliban over these kidnappings, because they clearly violate the code.
A global outcry for the Taliban to follow their own code would certainly be covered by media in Afghanistan and Pakistan where the Taliban are based – creating massive local pressure on them to free their prisoners. But these hostages are living under a 24 hour death sentence. We have seconds not minutes to act. Please take a moment now to sign the petition and forward it to your friends and acquaintances! The more people sign, the more powerful a message we will be able to send.”
… every Tom, Dick and Harry will claimed that they know you. Even if they can’t recalled seeing you, most important thing is you know them. Ngam mou? (correct or not)
If you remember a while ago, our former Ms Malaysia aka ex-Mrs KRU was on the front page because of some scandal thingy with Engku Emran. Ahem! That Engku Emran used to be my ex-school mate. Really wan. No bluff you wan. During school days, he is a hottie among girls and ahem… changing partner like changing clothes. Enough about his scandal. So I was like so proud lidat when someone I know is now a famous celebrity or rather the CEO of Suria FM. You may think I am boasting but nevermind la. The title tells it all.
Got one more famous people. If you are in food industry, you might heard of Chef Raymond Siek. I’ve blogged about him sometime last year when I visited him at The Datai, Langkawi. Few days back, he did an ice carving for charity some where in Langkawi shopping mall.
Thought wanna share with you guys his achievement and to show off a bit la.
I was amazed by his talent and creativity. It is not easy to have the ability to carving an ice block. During our childhood days, we used to be the notorious type. Never serious in our studies. And today… we are much an achiever. (*ahem).
Beside the ice carving, they entered the Guinness World Record for making the longest roti jala measuring 500meters.
errr… roti jala only wat. Where’s the curry chicken? I want the biggest pot of curry chicken!!!!
There is something about man in white. Not sure if it’s just me, but I find them very………………. (please filled in your own words)
Ok. Enough publicity of him. So, Sitiawanese sekalian, come and make some woof whistle. I’m sure you know him 😉
